Why Start Your Faith Journey with the Book of John?

Why Start Your Faith Journey with the Book of John?

When I first invited Jesus into my life, someone suggested that I start my new journey with Christ in the Book of John. I’ve since offered the same advice to other newbies. Why do we do that?

According to the introduction to John in the Amplified Bible, this book is very different from the other three Gospels. Its purpose is to report the signs or miracles of Christ so that we might believe that Jesus is the Christ. In fact, the word “believe (trust, adhere to, rely on)” occurs ninety-eight times in this writing.

As we learn to believe, we will learn to trust, and the more we do that,
the more we will pray and obey. (Tweetable)

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God (Isaiah 50:10, NIV).

So have your read the Book of John lately? It would be a great place to start if you need to rekindle your faith.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:1-5, NIV).

Prayer:

Lord, we believe. Help our unbelief! (from Mark 9:24) In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I smiled because I was asked to read the book of John when I invited Jesus in my heart. For the same reason.

We would love to hear your thoughts.
